About the Green Dragon Courant
What is this thing?
We’re glad that you asked.
The Green Dragon Courant is a literary magazine.
Oh, don’t start. We know, we know – literary magazines have gone the way of the dodo. They became too bound up in themselves, the fragile prose that they carried too precious.
But this magazine lets you make the final editorial call. Here’s how it works:
• Members of The Writers Federation submit poetry or prose that they believe merits inclusion in the Green Dragon Courant by selecting “Submit to Magazine” on the same page used to post new items on their Author page.
• The editors working here behind the green curtain decide submission by submission whether to push new writing out through the magazine page or gently direct it to the writer’s Author page. Then the fun begins.
• Other members of the Federation rate the submissions along a predetermined set of criteria by clicking on the stars that appear near the title of the story or poem. What exactly does each criterion measure? We think it best that you decide.
• At the end of an interval, we’ll take the 10 top-rated pieces and fashion a PDF magazine with them that will be available for some nominal fee. (The current plan is to publish that magazine through Lulu.com, but stay tuned for details.)
• The winners get free copies. And bragging rights. And something quite nice to put on a writing resume.
We’re thinking that this will be a quarterly publication to start. The first edition may take longer as we are still in the softest of launch modes and we’re waiting, patiently, patiently, for submissions to trickle in.
When the content flow picks up, we’ll publish more frequently. And if the ads running along the side of the page start to generate revenue, we’ll up the prize money.
Sound good? So submit something already!
